Vanessa Clark
With the creation of Chase Sinclair Clark, which combines the former practices of Sinclair Clark and Chase and Partners, Vanessa Clark has assumed the role of Chairperson from Professor Graham Chase.
Prior to forming Sinclair Clark in 2010 Vanessa was a director of JLL, initially as part of the business space team in Hanover Square and, within 2 years she became Chair of the East London Business team at Canary Wharf working directly with the CEO at that time, Andrew Gould.
The role was to encourage investment into growth areas in East London such as Docklands, Stratford, Greenwich, Canning Town, Thames Gateway, and Croydon. Vanessa encouraged a research approach and was instructed by clients LTGDC to produce Three Thames Gateway research reports with highly experienced research colleagues.
In 2010 amidst the financial recession Vanessa Formed Sinclair Clark and continued working on projects such as BEST Network the brand of six MARS owned science parks across the country. Vanessa developed a specialism in south London and won numerous office projects in Croydon.
Vanessa continued to attend MIPIM each year and won an instruction from the landowners of Altira Park in Herne Bay. Terrace Hill was introduced by Vanessa as a joint partner to progress development on the land going on sucessfully to create a 100,000 sq ft Sainsbury store and terraces of industrial units and trade centres.
Occupier work became another focus and Vanessa continues to work on behalf of Win Technologies now Betway in Camden where they are an anchor tenant with space spanning 60,000 sq ft.
Vanessa id a board member of Develop Croydon and works on a cross section of office lettings, development, and consultancy in the town and in the adjacent borough of Sutton.
Vanessa remains a share holder of the Property Hub London (PHL) a co-operative group which for the last 10 years operated a desk sharing scheme and collaborative work with like-minded colleagues. PHL has recently moved to newly fitted offices in Market Place and Vanessa will continue the collaboration including space in the offices as a second base for CSC.

Professor Graham F Chase is the Chairman of Chase and Partners LLP, Chartered Surveyors and Chartered Town Planners, based in central London. He is a Fellow & Past President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Chartered Arbitrator, Past President and current Chairman of the Association of Town & City Management, a Freeman of the City of London, Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors, Member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Past Chairman of the Covent Garden Area Trust, the Honorary Surveyor to the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists and Chairman of the Commonwealth Housing Trust.
In his 44-year career he has advised the private sector on the letting and funding of retail and leisure schemes with a combined value of over £10billion, advised on the development of some 150 shopping centres, leisure centres, retail parks and other commercial property products and advised central Government and over 40 Local authorities on policy and other property based issues.
In the past 10 years he has advised on a wide cross section of property sectors in most areas of business and looks after a select cadre of retained clients in respect of their property portfolios and activities including retail, leisure, offices, industrial/logistics and residential land. He also sits as an arbitrator on a variety of property disputes, is an Independent Expert and appears as an Expert Witness in the High Court, Property Tribunals and Planning Public Inquiries.
He has produced an annual retail, leisure, and restaurant market report since 1983 covering both the in town and out of town sectors and this year, on 1st June 2020, Chase & Partners celebrates its 25th year of trading with a 25th edition of the Spring Report.
James Clark joined Chase and Partners in September 2016 following a work experience placement earlier and completion of an MSc in real estate development at Westminster University graduating in September 2017. He previously completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography at Loughborough University.
James works closely with Graham assisting on a wide range of instructions and he will work alongside Vanessa Clark to increase his input to agency and professional instructions across Central London the south east.
James has gained a broad expertise having acquired a number of high street units for Helping Hands in the South East of the UK and London and acquiring over 15 stores over the last 2 years with the most recent acquisitions in Hertford and Ramsgate. James has been instrumental in letting offices in the West End, negotiating CPO claims with HS2 and assisting on a number of valuations exercises including a former BHS unit in Cribbs Mall, Bristol and an industrial site in Willesden.
More recent instructions consist of rent reviews on commercial properties located in Mayfair on behalf of the Landlord, working with Local Authorities on town centre redevelopments such as Redhill and assisting on Expert Witness instructions in relation to lease renewals and determining ‘Open Market Values’.
Keith Nelson holds a degree in Urban Estate Surveying, is a Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Registered Valuer.
He has worked in the private property sector for over 30 years specializing in commercial property.
Keith commenced employment with J Trevor & Sons in London in 1984, before joining Clive Lewis & Partners, with responsibility for retail in London and the Southeast where became an Associate of the Practice. Following the merger between Clive Lewis & Partners and Edward Erdman in January 1993, he became a Director.
He was a founding Partner of a new commercial property practice, Chase & Partners, in June 1995. The company specializes in retail and leisure property advising on occupational and investment agency, development, consultancy and professional work.
Keith’s wide range of experience includes advising landlords, tenants, developers and local authorities on development, agency professional, valuation and investment matters relating to retail, leisure, office and industrial property.
Clients have included Asda, Sainsbury’s, Land Securities, H&M, Burford Group, AVIVA Investors, Aberdeen Standard, Centros, M&G Property, Odeon Cinemas Ltd, McDonald’s, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Dacorum Borough Council, Wokingham Borough Council, Vision Express and PwC.
Keith has advised on a number of leisure and town centre developments including: 02 Finchley Road, London NW3; Knights Park, Tunbridge Wells; Central Park, Falkirk; Chichester Gate, Chichester; Middlebrook, Bolton; Riverside Norwich; Palace Exchange, Enfield; Town Centre, Corby; Bligh’s Meadow, Sevenoaks.
Huw Williams has nearly 40 years’ experience in planning and development.
Having started his in professional career in local government, he joined Tesco in 1984 and was instrumental in the production of the Company’s new superstore development strategy for the UK. In 1989 he was recruited by Sainsbury’s as an ‘in house’ planning advisor before being promoted to Head of Development Policy.
Since 2001, Huw has worked in planning and development consultancy – as a Director with Town Planning Consultancy/RPS, Cushman Wakefield, Chase & Partners and CgMs. In the summer of 2015, having re-located to the South West, he established his own independent consultancy, Brompton Planning Ltd. and was also invited to re-join Chase & Partners as a consultant specializing in planning and development matters.
He has advised retailers, developers and investors on a wide range of development projects – including proposals for new foodstores and retail warehousing as well as the extension of existing retail facilities. He has also advised a series of local planning authorities on retail development and planning policy matters. He has extensive experience in managing large (and sometimes controversial) planning applications for major retail, sport & leisure, mixed use and education schemes.
He holds a BA(Hons) Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from Coventry (Lanchester) Polytechnic. He is also a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and has chaired the British Property Federation’s Planning & Environment Committee. He was a founding member and director of the National Retail Planning Forum and has served on the British Retail Consortium’s Planning & Environment Task Force and as an External Examiner for the BA(Hons) Degree Course in Retail Management at Bournemouth University.
